It is amazing how life can catch you distracted and staring into the sky and with the force of a freight train, knock the
stuffing right out of you.  And after you've shaken your head and the world has stopped spinning you realize 3 years just
blew by.  Good stuff, bad stuff and great stuff piled into box cars, just a blur as they are passing.  Well, over these past
holidays I feel like I've had a chance to 'hop on the train' and regroup.  And I've gotten pumped.  With my Christmas loot,
including my new
John Deere hat and Hank Williams CD from my wife and girls and the chainsaw from Mom & Dad.  I'm
ready to 'Get Dirty'.  One of my resolutions is to address conflict more calmly and to generally 'trust in God' more.  I get
stressed out way too easily.  And once I get over the shock of my American Express holiday bill I'll be throwing myself
right into those resolutions.  It's gonna be an exciting year!
The band picture to the right was taken almost 2 years ago...or was it 3?  See what I mean?  Feels like I posted it on-line
for the first time yesterday.  Anyhow, it's a Rook (my buddy-band) photo.  The 'Rock Star' part of my persona has been on
hiatus and I don't miss him all that much to be honest.  What I do miss though is getting together with Cory, Jeremy,
Kendall, Scott and any other musical mind to Rock.  All my band buddies have a lot going on too so we write when the
calendars collide.  However, we have made some musical resolutions as well.  I think
Rook will take on another name
(or not) and release another EP this year.  We'll see.   I have been writing a lot of lyrics but I am pretty critical of them.
There is this one song that I have recorded 3 completely different sets of lyrics and vocals to and I'm still not happy.  I am
either getting my picky or less talented in my old age.  Let's hope it's the first.  My girls have shown a real interest and
talent for singing so maybe a kids rock record would be something to consider.  We ARE going to record a Christmas
CD for family and friends at the end of this year to include Aviles' singing 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' with the exact
styling of Judy Garland.  We might make it available on-line for fun.
Man was it hard to get up today.  Crazy weekend.  Melanie and I just bought 10 Acres out in Geneva to build a horse barn
and our dream house (eventually).  It's all wooded, so every spare weekend has seen me buzzing down trees with my
chainsaw and fulfilling my pyro-maniacal boyhood dreams of lighting up huge piles of wood, throwing diesel fuel on
them and watching huge billows of black smoke blow from scorching flames.  The fire must have reached 40 feet in the
air this past Saturday.  Don't worry, we DID have a burn permit and did NOT set the woods on fire.  It was responsible
destruction.  I also got to drive a Bobcat for the first time.  Boy, do I wish I had pictures of that.  Fun stuff.  More on that
later.  We also had our monthly Behind The Scenes tour here at
Full Sail.  It's a fun event but make for a really long day.
The picture to the left of me and Kendall making beats obviously did NOT happen this past weekend, but it's a cool pic.
Yesterday was my beautiful wife's birthday.  So I took the day off and took her and the girls shopping.  My wife is from
Michigan and her favorite restaurant is
Big Boy's.  She has eaten there from early childhood all the way up until I whisked
her away down south when she was in her early 20's.  I took her to Shoney's once because it seemed to me to be the
same restaurant with a different name and mascot, and she said it was no where near the same thing.  You could have
fooled me, but apparently there are major differences to major Big Boy's aficionados.  It has something to do with the
Spaghetti Sauce.  Well would you believe that someone (probably from Michigan) opened up a Big Boy's right down the
road in Sanford.  So for my wife's birthday dinner, the girls, my mom and dad and I took her to Big Boy's.  She ain't hard to
please.  What a woman!  Happy birthday baby!
