school, so it works out perfectly.  She is just right down the hall from them.  Still, it is quite an alarming thing to see how
quickly time really does pass.  We get so distracted by work, vain ambition and other time steelers and we turn around to
see our grand kids coming up the drive for a visit.  Melanie and I are really making an effort to cherish every moment,
wish these days could last forever.  But since they won't, I'll make the most of what I have.quickly time really does pass.
We get so distracted by work, vain ambition and other time steelers and we turn around to everyday, every weekend,
every holiday.  There will ultimately not be as many of each of them as we wish.  It is a joy beyond measure for me to pick
up the girls from school and just chat about the day, what they are doing or thinking.  I wish these days could last forever.
But since they won't, I'll make the most of what I have.
I have never seen someone so excited about anything as Amarige was about going to pre-school the very first day.  It
was almost heartbreaking to see how mature she acted at just 3.  I kissed her goodbye at the house and went to work.
Melanie called me after she dropped her off and said that after Melanie had taken her to her class, she said 'Bye
Mommy" and took off playing in the classroom.  No tears.  No 'Mommy, please don't leave."  None of that.  In Amarige's
mind, this day marked the achievement of 'Big Girl' status.  She was so proud of herself.  The only consolation to Mel and
I was that we were going to pick her up in just 4 hours at 1pm.  I met Melanie at ICS and we drove together to pick her up
from school.  My heart wanted to bust when I saw her smiling face walking down to get in the car.  She was way too big.
We went around the corner for Chocolate Shakes and Cheese steaks at Kappy's.  We discussed her first day.  She
definitely wants to go back.
This weekend was the Fox Cry Horse Show out in Chuluota.  It is amazing to see how passionate the girls are about
horses.  However, it is Melanie's passion for the animals and the sport that I stand in awe of.  Getting out of bed is a
struggle for both Melanie and I no matter what the task is that awaits us on a particular day.  But this morning the alarm
went off at 5am and Melanie, who will tell you unashamedly that she is not at all a morning person, hops right out of bed
and begins the tasks of getting Aviles and the gear ready for the horse show.  I am barely aware this is going on.  After all
it is only 5am on a Saturday.  Well, I am awakened from half sleep by a couple of kisses.  Melanie says "Call me before
you head over".  Later she told me that she and Aviles were the very first ones at the event.  It was still dark and they
accidentally woke up the owners who put on the event.  Horses are the only thing that Mel will get up at 5am for.
I have lived around water my entire life but I am completely new to boating.  From the little experience I have had so far
though, I am hooked.  We are still unfamiliar with it enough that it can be a bit stressful for me and Melanie to put the
thing in the water.  But once its in and we're off, it is awesome.  Yesterday we put in at the Edgewater Dock and buzzed up
the river through New Smyrna Beach and went to disappearing Island.  It's this giant sand bar that forms during low tide
where all kinds of people pull up to and hang out.  We left there and pulled the boat up to a restaurant for dinner before
heading back.  What a blast.  The girls are asking to go again next week.
