It was the first GOHJA show of the year today and Aviles and Cookie did awesome. They got a second in Equitation, a third in Undersaddle and a first in Hunter Hack. Overall the got Grand Champion in points. And the Reserve Grand Champion went to our friend Riley who was riding Spirit. All the girls from Jumpin' Over (that's the group of girls trained by Melissa Callanan) do a consistently amazing job. We are so blessed to have Melissa and such wonderful horses. We should be doing a horse show at least once a month for the rest of this year. Hopefully at some point this year we'll be able to move out to Geneva and have our own barn and living space so the girls can ride their horses everyday and kiss them goodnight. But that's all in God's hands. Today was an awesome day though. Aviles did great at her show then I got to go out with Alaila and Amarige to the property to put in fence posts. It was a good day.
This was Spirit week at the girls school. Wednesday was inside out and backwards day and today was the pep rally. The whole family got dressed up in blue and gold and cheered the ICS COMETS on as they got ready for the first basketball games of the year. The weather is actually pretty cool here and I have to say that I am loving it. I went out to the property to put in some fence posts and I felt like I was somewhere up north. It was awesome. Melanie and the girls are not to fond of the cold weather though. It's so funny to see them act like it's freezing outside when the temperature is 68 degrees. I think the fact that more than 75% of the year I am sweating causes me to revel in this change. Melanie the girls and I have spent the past few weeks of weeknights after work playing Wii by the fireplace. Now that's wintertime fun.
Today is Melanie's birthday! We celebrated by getting off of work early and going to PARIS! Not the real Paris of course but the one at the World Showcase in EPCOT! Just before Paris though we traveled over to Canada to see the new 360 movie 'O, Canada' with Martin Short. It gave us the bug to go exploring that beautiful country. After the movie we stopped to listen to the Scottish Rock Band 'Off Kilter' then we headed back over to Paris. We had dinner at the upstairs restaurant, Bistro de Paris. It was wonderful! The food was delicious and we ended the dinner with flaming orange crepes. When dinner ended we walked outside just in time for the fireworks show. We are so blessed to have Disney at are disposal here. We have an absolute blast every time we go. On the way back home we popped in mom's new Michael Buble birthday CD and all of us sang all the way home. We're gonna party all weekend!
We continued the celebration of Melanie's birthday today, but this time we did it country style. Early in the day I met buddies of mine from our church small group out at the property in Geneva and we did some land clearing. Later, Melanie came out with the girls and the rest of the moms and kids from our small group came out as well. My awesome boss Garry Jones allowed me to borrow his John Deere Gator for the weekend. It was the hit of the century with all the kids. We put some hay in the back to soften it and gave ride until the sun went down. Then we gathered around a campfire and roasted marshmallows and hot dogs. Cory brought his acoustic guitar and I brought my cajon and we sang song around the fire. Mandy made a brownie birthday cake for Melanie that we devoured. We hung out until past the little kids bedtimes, then we took one more ride in the gator down to Lake Hart before heading home.
