The month started off very quietly for me because the girls were still in Michigan for their Spring Break. I would have loved to go but we were in the middle of the tuition increase season at Full Sail and it was too busy for me to leave. While the girls were out of town I spent a lot of time in the studio. I work with a friend from work recording his band Flame To Flicker and I made several trips over to Big Time Studios in Altamonte Springs to participate in Summit's Worship CD. Both projects are sounded very cool. I can't wait to hear them finished. The girls finally got back on Monday and Amarige started up with her swimming lessons in advance of the summer. We decided to put her into the Infant Swimming Research program. She is obviously not an infant anymore though, which turned out good. Instead of being afraid of the water she was excited. She is doing excellent in only her fist couple of lessons. She keeps this up 5 days a week for 6 weeks. She will be a regular little fish when it is all over.
This is Aviles' second year competing at the 4-H show. This year she is trying to learn the ropes enough to make it to the state competition in Tampa. This is a lot more challenging than GOHJA for her because it involves jumping. You have to attend today's event in order to compete in the Area show next month. How you do at the Area show will determine if you go to state or not. She had a struggle with Spirit today because the jumps were higher than she is used to and Aviles has been on Spring Break for the past 2 week and not riding Spirit or taking lessons so they have both been out of practice. Melanie and I are trying to prepare Aviles that if she doesn't make it to state this year it's no big deal because it's her first year trying and there are a ton of other very experienced riders that she's competing against. Little Aviles is a competitive booger though. She seems determined to make it.
We work up this morning and the weather was just beautiful. We have been trying to sell our house for a long time and there are some people that wanted to come see it today. So we decided to clean the house and head to Animal Kingdom for the day. When we got to the park it was packed and we were concerned that it might be too full of people to enjoy. But when we started moving around the park we realized it was not nearly as packed as we though. As a matter of fact as the day grew on the park emptied out quite a bit. It was a very enjoyable day. We had heard some great things about the Finding Nemo show so we headed there first and ran into Christy, Cliff and Joe Walker and Cliff's mom. The show was as good as anything you would expect to see on Broadway. Simply amazing. We saw the tigers, had some lunch at The Yak & The Yeti and went over to Expedition Everest to see if Alaila was tall enough to ride. She was! We got fast passes and then went on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride. Then we hoofed it back to Mount Everest. Alaila loved it so much that she rode it again with mom right away. The people that looked at our house also made an offer. This might be it!
Well, we got a contract on our house and the closing date is set for May 15th. Now we are searching for the right place to rent while we are going through the building process of the carriage house on the property. Alaila's Birthday is coming up on May 1st and one of her birthday wishes was to have dinner in Mexico at EPCOT. So that's what we did. It just so happens that the Flower and Garden show are going on. It was another perfect Florida day. We are gonna soak all the outdoor up we can before it gets to hot in a month or so.
