We had such a great time at the 4th of July parade in Geneva last year that we went again, and this time we got our entire
small group to come. I volunteered again this year and was responsible for letting all the classic cars into the field
where they were lined up for the parade. There were some super sweet old cars. This year was even better than last
year. The parade started with a fly over of all these old war planes. It was incredible! Then the procession of old cars,
old tractors, horses and decorated ATV's started. It was all the 'real deal' with no filler at all. After the parade we all went
down to the community center for barbecue and game. All the kids (and some moms) kissed the camel and most of
them got to hold snakes (like Alaila above). This will definitely be a family tradition for us, and maybe the small group
too. We all had a blast. Next year we might be IN the parade with the Valiant or the horses.
Melanie's brother Rob and his family generously invited us to spend a part of their summer vacation on a houseboat on
Dale Hollow lake in Tennessee. So we got in our truck, hooked up our boat and headed for a few days of fun and
relaxation in the northern end of the south. We had actually just gotten back from Tennessee. My dear Uncle Bill passed
away of an Acute Hematoma and we traveled up to Soddy Daisy and the Sale Creek Church of God for the funeral. It was
so sad to be seeing family that we hadn't seen in years for an event like that. However, in the Pentecostal tradition, they
made the 'Home Going' a celebration. As good as something bad like that can be, it was. Even under such tragic
circumstances, it was so comforting to see family. It reaffirmed how important family is and how it is really all that
matters. Everything else is just something to occupy you time until you can be with family again. So we hung out with
family up at the lake and had a wonderful time. The kids favorite things to do was jump off the top of the house boat (as
Ailes demonstrates in the picture above, and get swung around the lake on Big Bertha (the tube behind our boat).
The girls and their cousins Emma and Jake have been swimming non-stop. The water is just beautiful. Unfortunately,
another Uncle of mine, John Colbaugh, passed away after a long fight with cancer. So we travelled back down to Soddy
Daisy to the very same cemetery we were at last week and buried him. We the rest of the day being with family and loving
on them through this very strange and difficult time. It was wonderful to see the legacy and all the amazing work both of my
late Uncles left behind them. They were both pastors and dedicated their lives to expanding God's Kingdom. We traveled
back to the lake late at night. We got to the marina and got in our boat to head back to the houseboat. It was the darkest
dark that I have ever been in before. Rob and Dawn had moved the houseboat to a better spot, but that meant that we had
to try to find it in the pitch dark. We had flashlights but they didn't seem to cut through the dark more than 15 feet. After about
30 minuets of searching we finally saw dim lights off in the distance so we idled towards it. It looked so far away and then
all of a sudden, it was 10 feet in front of us. Our eyes had played tricks on us. We all felt a little tinge of vertigo. It was quite
an adventure

Aviles finally had her in-town birthday party for all of her Florida friend. And what a party it was. It was a Dress Up party, a
Tea Party and a Pool party all rolled into one. All her friends showed up look so adorable. Alaila and I played maid and
butler to Aviles small collection of eccentric friends. Mimi C. conducted the Tea Party portion of the event while Alaila and
I made the tea. No one at the table was able to talk unless it was in a English accent. All the girls had a ball with that.
When the tea and cakes were gone we all went down to one of the community pools in celebration and had our fill of
swimming until the 3 o'clock Florida summer showers set in. We finished the party with Ice Cream on Mimi C. and
Poppi's front porch. It was the perfect was to ring in 10!
